Creating Connections: A Q & A with Catherine Tidd

Catherine Tidd is the November 16th, 2017 host of Creating Connections which will be located at Wash Park Grill from 6 - 8 PM. This is a social gathering for women who are looking to connect and make new friends. Please come if you can!

Tell us a little bit about your business.

I focus on social media marketing and content creation for small independent service providers. My goal is to make each company that I work with a resource and pull more potential clients to their websites where they can find out more about them and contact them for future business.

How did you get into this business?

My husband died in 2007 and a couple of years later I created a grief support page on Facebook. At one point, this page was getting over 400,000 hits per month - all because I was writing content and putting it out there. I was doing social media marketing before I even knew that's what I was doing! That page then led to a book deal for Confessions of a Mediocre Widow, which came out in 2014. Later, as I was working in marketing for a self-publishing company, I found myself answering friends' questions about social media. It occurred to me that people need help effectively getting their message out there. And a business was born.

What makes you passionate about what you do?

Oh, I LOVE seeing my clients succeed. I'm so invested in what they have going on. There's not a minute in my day when I'm not thinking about what we can do to engage more people. I love that by doing what we do and working together, these businesses are really helping people. The people I work with are so passionate about what they do. It's exciting to watch them grow.

What do you enjoy doing for fun?

I have three kids that I love hanging out with (today. Ask me again tomorrow). I'm getting back into working out, which I desperately need and forgot how much I loved. I am obsessed with cooking (thus, the working out). I love reading and gardening and just entertaining in general.

What is your favorite thing about Colorado?

THE SEASONS. Right now we are in the thick of my favorite time of the year - fall. But I love how every season, it does what it's supposed to do: leaves change in the fall, it snows in the winter, everything blooms in the spring, and summer is all about being at the pool!

What's a secret talent that few people know about?

Well, the people I grew up with will know this, but I'm actually a pretty good singer. I've been involved in music my entire life and got a scholarship to college as a double major in voice and piano. Now my kids are in music so that's been awesome to experience all over again!

Why do you enjoy being involved with Creating Connections?

I'm involved with this group because of the business networking group, Graceful Transitions. I have been a part of many networking groups in the past, but never one where women champion each other as these women do. I walk away from each gathering with renewed energy and feeling like I have an entire tribe supporting me. I only hope that more women get involved in Creating Connections so they can experience that as well!
