While it might be tempting to keep your blog "business as usual" over the summer, it's important to remember that even though your ideal client might still be working...their minds are craving summer vibes.
As a general rule, I encourage my clients to think about topics every month that give us two topics:
One that is educational
One that is more lifestyle-related
This does two things:
It establishes them as an expert in their field and helps their SEO when it comes to potential clients.
It gives their audience something to read that they actually enjoy.
As one of my colleagues puts it, "Not everyone only wants the broccoli (the industry stuff). They also want the dessert (the lifestyle stuff)."
Here are some summer blog ideas to help you this summer!
Summer recipes that you enjoy.
Travel tips for your ideal client (families, singles, age-appropriate)
A list of volunteering opportunities in your area (those live links are great for SEO!)
Staycation ideas in your area
Fun local stores for summer shopping (again - include those links!)
Tips on how to slow down over the summer, even if you have to work (what works for you? Give us that personal spin)
Your favorite podcasts that you're listening to this summer
Your top "beach reads"
What to bring to a summer BBQ or potluck
Home improvement ideas that allow you to enjoy your home more in the summer and/or add the most bang for your buck
Each of these ideas allows you to do the following:
You can subtly make each one industry-specific if you want to - just don't go too hard
Make them personal so the reader gets to know you better. That's part of the reason we blog!
Tap into resources for Q&As - this increases your audience AND you don't have to write most of the content.
Think about what you like reading, listening to, and watching over the summer. Are you excited to open up the latest news about the stock market or are you more likely to check out a blog on mocktail ideas?
